Award opportunities for ICT leaders

The Anita Borg Institute is calling for applications for a host of exciting awards for leaders in ICT:

Anita Borg Social Impact Award
The fifth Anita Borg Social Impact Award, an international prize, will honor an individual or team who has caused technology to have a positive impact on the lives of women and society or who has caused women to have a significant impact on the design and use of technology. The recipient of the 2009 Anita Borg Social Impact Award will receive a $10,000 award and will be honored at the 2009 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference Awards Presentation to be held in Tucson, Arizona, October 1, 2009.

Anita Borg Technical Leadership Award
The Anita Borg Technical Leadership Award recognizes and celebrates an outstanding woman technical leader. The recipient will be honored and receive a $10,000 cash award at the 2009 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference’s Awards Presentation on October 1st 2009 in Tucson, Arizona.

Change Agent Award
The Anita Borg Change Agent Awards celebrate the accomplishments of technical women from, and who work in, developing countries. Three individual Awards will be given to women in computing that:
1. Demonstrate leadership within their communities
2. Expand opportunities and influence the careers of girls and women in technology
3. Demonstrate impact on advancing women’s participation in technology
4. Establish the desire to attend the conference
5. Demonstrate financial need
Each award includes reimbursement of expenses up to $5,000. This includes travel expenses to/from the conference, hotel accommodations, full conference registration, the opportunity to participate in a conference session, and recognition in the printed program at the 2009 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference.
