World Community Grid crosses 300,000 CPU-year mark

Just a short note that we crossed another huge milestone in collecting spare CPU cycles from the over 1.4 million computers that have joined World Community Grid in helping humanity and the world. We also try to do this in a green manner so that the work is throttled in CPU utilization so that the machines do not heat up significantly. Thus they don't consume too much extra energy while running the research on World Community Grid. At the same time the checkpointing capabilities we put into the system allows members to turn off their machines as they normally would without regard to the grid work running in the background and without losing a significant about of work due to this interruption. We are in the process of cleaning up some end of the year work items and will soon have some new project and web site activities to report.
