Chatting to Christopher Choi about TWIRP and his work

Christopher Choi is a research student of computer science at St Andrews University in the UK. During a coffee break Chris talked to GridCast about TWIRP (a twitter mining workbench), and his experiences with No/SQL databases and vertical scaling for semi-big data producers (1TB). Chris presented his work on Tuesday in the humanities session, and slides from his engaging presentation can be found here.

Chris is a research student of Alexander Voss, who helped develop an interactive tool to visualise the 2.6 million tweets from the 2011 London Riots. This was in conjunction with the Guardian newspaper in the UK. You can read more about this work here.
