Gala Dinner: Some history and one good advice

As you probably already know, the gala dinner tonight will take place at the Uppsala Castle in the room Rikssalen. The hall has been the scene of many important historic moments, one being the abdication of the queen Kristina of Sweden in 1654. During a period the hall was used for drying the linen of the Governor of teh Uppsala region and it is also said that the son of one of the Governors used to play tennis in the room. This boy was Dag Hammasköld and he was to become the Director General of the UN later on.

Finally, I would like to add a piece of good advice (mainly for the ladies); The walk to the castle is mostly on cobble stone, and I recommend you to bring your high heels in a bag and change on site... :-)

I wish you a nice evening!
