SCCAMP 2012 Tents of Participants |
"Yesterday afternoon, 53 students selected from Venezuela and Colombia plus 8 instructors from different countries met at Vegasol, Merida State in Venezuela, for the 2012 edition of the Supercomputing and Distributed Systems Camp School.
Inspired by the
idea of taking advantage of the Internet and high speed
networks available today (however the loss of connexion during 12 hours), one can exploit high performance
computing infrastructures from anywhere, even located in
the middle of the nature. This year, SCCAMP is in Vegasol, an equatorial site in the Venezuelan Andes with tropical conditions: 35°C degrees of temperature, palm trees in the middle of the mountains and rivers.
SC-Camp is an initiative of researchers to offer to undergraduate and master students
state-of-the-art lectures and programming practical sessions upon High Performance and Distributed
Computing topics. SC-Camp is a non-profit event, addressed to every student
including those that lack of financial backup. This year the event will be hosted by Universidad de Los Andes, Mérida Venezuela
In this version, special topics as bio-informatics, Grid computing flavos and colors, FPGAs programming and massive parallel processing programming based in CUDA will be developed during 6 days of Supercomputing Camp".
